Reduce Gummy Smile
|
|
You have a gummy smile if, when you smile:
- you see more gums than teeth
- your teeth appear too small or too short
The solution for gummy smile is to allow more teeth to be visible, gain better tooth length and proportions with less gum tissue showing. Crown lengthening (also called gum recountouring) is usually recommended. This procedure is a minor surgical procedure that can be as simple as trimming the gum tissue; just like trimming your cuticles around your fingernails. Or it maybe as advanced as trimming both gum and bone from around the front of the teeth. The goal of the procedure is to establish more natural shape and size of the teeth.
