We know that keeping your natural teeth healthy for as long as possible is important for you. Dr. Huang stresses lifetime prevention as the primary means of obtaining and maintaining the perfect smile.
Our preventative program begins with a comprehensive 1-hr new patient exam. This includes recording of your dental/medical history, a visual mouth examination, an x-ray examination, prophylaxis (preventive cleaning) and instructions in oral hygiene. The Doctor performs meticulous cleaning, and also checks for warning signs of any possible dental or gum irregularities. Through individualized education, we help you develop better dental hygiene habits, correct any dental misconceptions you may have. We enjoy educating patients in the importance of prevention and many are surprised to learn how simple it is to manage their own oral health and stop allowing insurance coverage to dictate treatment decisions.
We urge our adult patient to see us regularly (usually every 6 months), which allows us to intercept little problems while they're still small. And that's also why we like to see children as early as their 3rd birthday, so that we can apply decay-preventing dental sealants as needed, and correct inappropriate growth patterns before they set the stage for more involved problems down the road. By maintaining your oral health, you can substantially reduce the possibility of future problems, such as toothaches and bleeding gums. Prevention is more enjoyable, less costly and more comfortable than treatment would be after unhealthy situations take over.
